After much preparation, the first issue of our SMARTSmag is now available! This magazine features the creative works of several students in YSU’s SMARTS program, which encourages and tutors students, instilling the discipline and focus that a career in the arts requires. These students’ work is at times inspiration, humorous, enlightening, sorrowful, and always deeply engaging. We’re very proud to share it with you, and we hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we have.

Join us in celebrating some young and talented students who are the future of Youngstown’s arts community.

SMARTSmag: First issue!

The first issue of the SMARTSmag is on its way! Simultaneously launching with the Spring issue of Jenny Magazine, the SMARTSmag will feature some of the writing talent of SMARTS students, as well as statements from SMARTS instructors and a video presentation of a day in the SMARTS program, prepared by YSU Student Literary Arts Association president Christopher Lettera.

The issue will be available on April 30th, 2011. That’s just a week away! Come back and visit, and get a close-up look at the young talent in the SMARTS program, talent that we believe will continue to help define Youngstown arts and be a part of the next generation of emerging artistic identity in our treasured city.

This is the home of the SMARTSmag, a joint production of YSU’s Student Literary Arts Association and Students Motivated by the Arts. The SMARTSmag will serve as a showcase for the creative works made by students of the Students Motivated by the Arts program at Youngstown State University.
